The Electrolux Food Foundation is partnering with the Red Cross, the world’s largest humanitarian network.
The foundation has chosen to donate to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Emergency Fund, which is directed towards immediate response operations where food is desperately needed.
Electrolux employees globally will have the opportunity to get involved too, invited to donate to the fund through a special platform. The first instance will be on Red Cross Day on 8 May.
This is the third global program established by the Electrolux Food Foundation following the launch of Food Heroes and Like a Chef.
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is the world’s largest humanitarian network, gathering nearly 100 million members and 17 million volunteers in 192 National Societies. Their mission is saving and protecting human lives, preventing and relieving human suffering, and securing respect for every person’s dignity without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions.
The Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) is a mechanism to provide funds before emergency appeals are launched to support the immediate response operations of Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies when disasters strike. With Forecast based Action (FbA) complementing the DREF support is released within 24-hours to timely and effectively implement early actions when a weather forecast shows a high likelihood of an extreme weather event critically impacting people.
